Dr. Knoefel and his team will first seek to understand your personal story and the impact your condition has on you both socially and physically. He will then perform a thorough examination of your jaw joints, mouth, teeth and gums. He will also evaluate your child’s airway to determine whether or not referral to a sleep specialist is required. With the help of high-quality diagnostic images he will explain in detail the problems with your tooth positions and bite and what would happen if they were left uncorrected. He will then discuss what care options can be considered and show you examples of other patients he has treated successfully with the same problem. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions and, together with Dr. Knoefel, develop a customized plan that works best for you and your lifestyle.

Once the treatment is decided on, the treatment coordinator will review the needed literature with you and get you set up with the necessary appointments to start you on your care journey.
