Orthodontic Services

At Oasis Orthodontics we believe in providing customized care. This means that we will gain a full understanding of your unique needs first. Then we will determine exactly which types of forces will be required to move your teeth both quickly and predictably. The last step is to design the appropriate treatment delivery system.

Meet Ruth Furtado for example. As an adult business woman, she needed assurances that her orthodontic appliances would not only show as little as possible, but that her treatment time would also be short. Furthermore, she was also hoping that her underbite could be treated without jaw surgery.

Dr. Knoefel took all these factors into consideration and obtained a 3-D scan of her teeth. He created several different treatment scenarios for her in the virtual world and finally determined that her underbite could be corrected without surgery, if she were willing to have one of her lower front teeth removed. He created a 3-D setup of the proposed outcome and presented it to Ruth at a consultation she had before any work was done. In order to address her aesthetic needs, he did not place any appliances on her upper teeth, and only uprighting springs on her lower molars. This way, the biggest movements would be accomplished without any braces at all. In the end,  she needed full brackets on her teeth for only 11 months to accomplish the rest of the treatment objectives.

Every bite problem is unique and requires an individualized approach to care. Depending on the force system required to correct the problem, brackets can be used in tandem with aligners, buttons and other attachments, and bite correctors. Sometimes the active forces will be applied from behind the teeth, other times in front. At Oasis we believe in recommending the treatment approach that best addresses your needs as predictably as possible, and in a reasonable time frame.
